MANAGER'S NOTE:

On 23rd June 2011, an ambitious project kicked off in the form of an online rock band, in the quiet backrooms of an online forum. So how do you bring the ostensibly arduous task of assembling a rock band from all over the world to life, into one unified legion? The old joke declares that one way in which you can fit an elephant into a glove compartment is by looking at him through the wrong end of a pair of binoculars, picking him up with tweezers and moving him, thus reducing him to normal height. This largely bloated conception of forming an online rock band was – somehow – shrunk down to standard size.

The band’s first ever release came in the form of a single on 12th August 2011, followed by another single release later that winter. Shortly afterwards, in what was a seemingly crisis situation, the group was in threat of disbanding. It seemed the group would plummet into a deep thicket of mud-ridden secretion and meet with that old friend: The ugly end. Nothing much to write home about really, and what a Christmas stocking on a tombstone ending that would have been.

Fast forward two years from its inception and the band have an impressive aggregation of 19 songs in their music catalogue. With this debut full-length album release to commemorate the group’s second year running (previous releases include five singles and an EP), Frozen Coco establishes a brand new, instantly recognisable sound, making them an even stronger force to reckon with than ever before. Yes, there are no low caliber recordings which may have otherwise prompted indignant questions such as "what brand of calculator was this cow manure recorded with?".

Let’s be clear here: Frozen Coco did not invent the notion of an online band. There have been countless other online acts established, but not of this stature. The band is of unique, quintessential nature in its own right; all members were brought together purely by their mutual love for music, and not via any relations outside of the information superhighway. Even to date, the band has had no outside dealings or interactions. Pretty impressive from the band who nearly fell to mud, eh?

But mud does not turn into gold easily: Money’s nice, but if Frozen Coco hadn’t made a bundle, the band wouldn’t still be around – that’s speaking figuratively. The fans’ continued support gives us a license to kill; it enables us with more freedom and breathing space to experiment in order to create new sounds. The new eponymous album features nine formerly unheard originals, together with previously released hit singles, crafted and re-mastered with the fans’ best interests kept in mind.

Constructing this album has been nothing short of pure fun. We set about piling the track listing by evaluating a list of several albums worth of original compositions to form one killer record. In the end, the result was as rewarding as the process, after five hushed months without any release at all and being missed in action. This time around, the band used different techniques than before while recording; instead of setting out each instrument part on sheet music or tablature, a healthy proportion of the songs were improvised along the way. The composer would share a song with the band mates, and each player would rig up their own, creative instrument part. This maximized the input from each member and certainly added more artistic vibe to such songs. Moreover, collaborating on writing lyrics to songs other than your own is a very gratifying and fruitful experience as well. For the first time, the band has incorporated synthesiser effects and orchestral arrangements which sets the stage perfectly for the next studio album to come.

Frozen Coco, it can be said, is largely responsible for the rise of similar online bands ever since. The band undoubtedly set a precedent in the times to come. As time progressed and more online bands came along, it seemed the group would become only that: Just another online rock band. The group was nothing more than Frank Sinatra is to exclusive metal lovers, although on a much smaller scale of course, making its members slightly less conspicuous than a bunch of extras on the movie set of “The Dark Knight”. In addition, the musicality employed by the band in its early days was, if not unpretentious, not overly impressive, striking no exciting chord or bringing out any such ‘wow’ factor. However, time has shown the increase in maturity of the songwriting and instrument arrangements, woven together to form one intricate and densely colourful fabric.

Two years ago, or even a year back, we never could have anticipated doing this album. But now it seems the band has developed well enough over the past few months, and added enough meat to their ever increasing archive to be capable of producing such work. Two years may seem like a long time, but the band members are still in their youth years, with the ink on their birth certificates barely drying up now. So long as the motivation to get back on the road is always there, Frozen Coco will be around always too. For now though, we give you a new, well cultivated list of numbers ranging from fast paced rock to those slow, moody ballads for you to enjoy.

Yep, after waiting so long, the rock quartet is back again (double pun intended)!

Track Name: Encroaching Meadows
VERSE:
A plectrum hits the base of a bin
As the rock quartet rushes in
The show is about to begin
And I am back again!

PRE-CHORUS:
They say it will never work out
But we will make it, no doubt
So long as we scream and shout
All the kids will be running around

CHORUS:
Never mind all the fools, they just cry
Don’t sit back and go for their ride
‘Cause my friend, we’re encroaching meadows tonight!

(That’s right)

PRE-CHORUS:
They said it would never work out
But we have made it, oh look out!
So long as we scream and shout
All the kids will be running around

CHORUS:
Never mind all the fools, they just cry
Don’t sit back and go for their ride
‘Cause my friend, we’re encroaching meadows tonight!
Track Name: Waiting So Long
VERSE 1:
Look, two souls entangled into one
She’ll never be my own
Nerves of jealousy
Against my will invade

CHORUS:
I've been waiting so long
So long since you've been gone
Yeah, I've been waiting so long
So, so, so long!

VERSE 2:
Wait, if ever I should catch your name
Would you be ready for this game?
I’d catch your lips in mine again
Oh, will you promise me the same?

And as I’m seated here in vain
I’m left to nothing but waste
For what I did in my haste
And baby don’t you see

CHORUS:
I've been waiting so long
So long since you've been gone, babe
Yeah, I've been waiting so long
So, so, so long!

VERSE 3:
Disgraced, I ponder what did I do wrong?
She was the beauty of my dream
Such touch and splendor she’d bring

She’s got the greatest demean
This woman graceful and serene
Boy, she’s a stunner of a queen
Fastidious, man you should’ve seen

As I am left here in shame
I can do nothing but demand
What I committed was wrong?
‘Twas nothing, baby come on
What was the reprimand?

CHORUS:
I've been waiting so long
So long since you've been gone, girl
Yeah, I've been waiting so long
So, so, so long!

Yeah!
Mmm...
(Ah, hit it!)
Track Name: These Erstwhile Walls
VERSE 1:
These erstwhile walls
Seem to stand so tall
Since you’ve been gone
I linger thinking what went wrong

CHORUS:
You can tell me don’t go away
Wishing you knew that I’d never stay
Sitting in bed and musing all day
Yet I’ll never come back to you

VERSE 2:
August came
And I was left on shame
Although I act inane
Oh, baby won’t you stay the same?

CHORUS:
Tell me don’t go away
Wishing you knew that I’d never stay
Sitting in bed and musing all day
Yet I’ll never come back to you

BRIDGE:
I walk down the Old Haven Road
Feeling as if I’ve been thrown overboard
Will you please, please take off this load
So I can touch the ground again?

CHORUS:
Tell me don’t go away
Wishing you knew that I’d never stay
Sitting in bed and musing all day
Yet I’ll never come back to you
Track Name: Out of the Possible (ft. Mari Smith)
VERSE 1:
Out of the possible this was the worst
All things I knew before were not the truth
Disappointment, feel of guilt
Abandonment, lack of trust

PRE-CHORUS:
Well perhaps there is a thing that I could do
Maybe there’s a better world out there

CHORUS:
I need to get this out of me,
I need to speak up for myself
I cannot bear the pain I feel
Out of the possible

PRE-CHORUS:
Well perhaps there is a thing that I could do
Maybe there’s a better world out there

VERSE 2:
Every time I speak, my mouth shuts out of fear,
And the question is, “what would they think?”
What’s the point now? There is none.
What can I do? Live alone

PRE-CHORUS:
Well perhaps there is a thing that I could do
Maybe there’s a better world out there

CHORUS:
I need to get this out of me,
I need to speak up for myself
I cannot bear the pain I feel
Out of the possible

BRIDGE:
Turns out I cannot do it on my own
I’ll have to cower out as to not confront it.

CHORUS:
I need to get this out of me,
I need to speak up for myself
I cannot bear the pain I feel
Out of the possible
Track Name: Green Country Home
VERSE 1:
My suitcase is on the floor
I hide the key to the familiar door

PRE-CHORUS:
Soon I will be with you
Soon I can be near
Soon as I get away from here

CHORUS:
I’m going home
I’m going home!

BRIDGE:
Going home, I’m coming home to you
I know I could stay a little longer
But I’m going, leaving
I’m coming home to you!
To you!

REFRAIN:
To my green country,
Tired of this heartless rain
To put it bluntly,
Never want to see this place again
Green country home!

VERSE 2:
Raindrops on the road
Wash away my footsteps
And the wind at my back
Never slackens

PRE-CHORUS:
If only you knew how I missed you
In every single way
I wish I could see your face today

CHORUS:
Home,
I’m going home!

BRIDGE:
No more rain and no more lonely darkness
I can’t feel the cold when I’m with you

REFRAIN:
In my green country,
Tired of this endless rain
To put it bluntly,
Never want to see this place again
Ah, ah, ah, ah!

I’ve been home sick much too long
But now I’m coming home
Track Name: Flashback
VERSE 1:
The other day I had a flashback
It was nothin’ big, just a flashback

PRE-CHORUS:
I can’t get you out of my head
I can’t fall asleep in my bed
There are too many memories

I will remember you
I hope you remember me too
So tell me, will you please?

CHORUS:
Flashback, too many memories
Flashback, too many memories!

VERSE 2:
Here we are again, it’s been so long
But I can never recall when I said you were wrong
So guess what it’s not time to let go
But I want to be your friend, not your foe

BRIDGE:
I guess my trying is worthless
It’s time to say goodbye
I’m sorry you never heard this
Just do not ask me why

Now stop sayin’ that I’m hopeless
All my flashbacks, they are worthless
Never gonna see you again
And I thought you were my friend

All our mem’ries lie in rubble
And I never wanted trouble
You’re not always def’nitely right
So don’t try to let’s start a fight

CHORUS:
Flashback, too many memories
Flashback!

Darling, it's all right,
If we never see the light
I have always wanted you to know
That I love you

VERSE 2:
If we never see light of day,
Oh well I-I'd like to say,
That somewhere and somehow
We'll make it out together

CHORUS:
And though for us
The tides are keeping still
Yeah, we can break these barriers,
Should we commit we will

VERSE 3:
Believe me when I say,
Skies won't always be this grey
Our love will always find a way
Never mind the weather

CHORUS:
And though for us
The tides are keeping still
Yeah, we can break these barriers,
Should we commit we will
Track Name: It Had to Go Away
VERSE 1:
I miss your warm caress,
I hold dearly to it,
As I meditate
What did I do wrong?

I miss your sweet essence,
I can’t stop feeling it.
What can I do
To bring us peace again?

CHORUS:
I want to stop this
And be at your side again.
Will you forgive me,
And please let me heal your wounds?

VERSE 2:
I miss your warm caress,
I can’t stop feeling it,
And I wonder why
It had to go away?

I beg your forgiveness,
I glimpse your silhouette
The ghost in your eyes
Is all that still remains

CHORUS:
I want to stop this
And be at your side again.
Will you forgive me,
And please let us forget this pain?
Track Name: Light Amidst the Fog
VERSE 1:
Stepped in this world, all dreary and cold,
Lost in confusion
Slept in the park, alone in the dark,
Seeking redemption

Then she came along, and she sang me her song
She started to walk, amidst all the fog,
Lighting the doorway

CHORUS:
Yeah, I’m telling you
This woman, this woman don’t make me blue
No, no, no!

I was waiting,
Waiting for someone who looked like you
Yeah, yeah, yeah!

VERSE 2:
The clouds in my head, blank dots I was fed,
Soon disappeared
So I played my part, following her heart,
And soon I was free

CHORUS:
Yeah, I’m telling you
This woman, this woman don’t make me blue
No, no, no!

I was waiting,
Waiting for someone who looked like you
Yeah, yeah, yeah! (Oh!)
Track Name: Blissful Rapture
VERSE 1:
I was looking for a girl to simply no avail,
Until you came and really got me over
Now me and my girlfriend past, ‘twas a love that’d never last,
I’m glad you came and finally turned me on

CHORUS:
So stay with me love, oh please my love,
Oh baby, all the time
All I ask of you is to love me do
Oh baby, I’m in love with you, oh yeah

(Take it Matt!)

BRIDGE:
So my dear, oh now don’t you see,
Just how much you really mean to me?

VERSE 2:
Now we are on pleasure shores, oh who could ask for more?
Just you and me, we can always be together
And so in this time of bliss, tender touch and rapture’s kiss,
In our new-found dawn we can sing along forever

CHORUS:
So stay with me love, oh please my love,
Oh baby, all the time
All I ask of you is to love me do
Oh baby, I’m in love with you, oh yeah
Track Name: This Jar
VERSE 1:
Howdy there, my friend, allow me
To introduce
For I am the spirit of a
Great, joyous life

CHORUS:
I am here to bring you to
A state of plenitude
You will forget all your worries
Dream with no setbacks

VERSE 2:
Don’t resist the seductive
Nature of commands
Succumb to temptation and you
Won’t look back again

Sadness and melancholy,
All is in the past
Look forward to your new life,
Should you take the chance

CHORUS:
I am here to bring you to
A state of plenitude
You will forget all your worries
Dream with no setbacks

BRIDGE:
What're you waiting for?
You've got a long way ahead!
But it’s also short;
So make your best!

VERSE 3:
Consume in copious amounts,
Don’t mind the hangover, nor the
Invasion of your senses, else you’re
Locked inside your mind

Reflect on the things you did,
Ashamed of yourself
A promising joyful life
Doesn’t need this jar

CHORUS:
I am here to bring you to
A state of plenitude
You will forget all your worries
Dream with no setbacks

What’re you waiting for?
Track Name: Early December (ft. Mari Smith)
VERSE 1:
You told me you’d be back last winter,
But now I find you’ve changed your mind
You left me in early December,
You say to find some girl of another kind

PRE-CHORUS:
But there’ll be time to rectify
All your deeds again

CHORUS:
And baby, don’t make me cry
‘Cause the tears are filling my eyes
Please just don’t break my heart

VERSE 2:
I stand on the edge and ponder
Will I see you walking down my lane?
In my wildest dreams I wonder
Whether I will ever forgive you again?

CHORUS: x2
And baby, don’t make me cry
‘Cause the tears are filling my eyes
Please just don’t break my heart

Oh I’m standing on the edge
Watching the window ledge
Waiting for your knock on my door
Waiting for your knock on my door
Track Name: Ellipsis
VERSE 1:
I was lost, I just stared
At the ruins of a love we once shared
Was I daft, so unwise?
What did I do that you simply despised?

CHORUS:
For what you’ve got girl, is hard to find
Oh, our love was of another kind
I’m afflicted underneath
It makes me break down and want to weep

CHORUS:
For what you’ve got girl, is hard to find
Oh, our love was of another kind
I’m afflicted underneath
It makes me break down and want to weep

VERSE 2:
Now I’m stuck deep inside
By these painful emotions I hide
Try my best to move on
From a love that has now faded and gone

CHORUS:
For what you’ve got girl, is hard to find
Oh, our love was of another kind
I’m afflicted underneath
It makes me break down and want to weep
Track Name: 7700
VERSE 1:
Close your eyes and don’t worry
I’ll be gone in a hurry
You’ll be left solitary
I’m going down

Stuck in subspace highway
Things spin out of view my way
See no land or no runway
I’m in freefall

CHORUS:
And it doesn’t matter the tears you’ll cry
Doesn’t matter the pain
You must somehow carry on
Though I won’t be back again

VERSE 2:
I am jammed in the cockpit
Of an FA Eighteen Hornet
I see no form of escape
I’m going down

I hear motors are breaking
The hydraulics are failing
My engines keep on stalling
Stuck in freefall

CHORUS:
And it doesn’t matter the tears you’ll cry
Doesn’t matter the pain
You must somehow carry on
Though I won’t be back again

VERSE 3:
Close my eyes and I’m with you
You don’t know how I’ll miss you
Know no world without you
Don’t want to die

I don’t wanna be no soldier
But the weight burns my shoulders
Had no choice but to leave her
I’m going down

VERSE 4:
I call seventy-seven hundred
Though I’m done and have floundered
I regret all my blunders
I’m to blame

I’ve been shot by enemy aircraft
There’s no chance I can escape
Just sit here watching the radar
I am stalling

CHORUS: x4
And it doesn’t matter the tears you’ll cry
Doesn’t matter the pain
You must somehow carry on
Though I won’t be back again
